Putting all your faith in 11:11 wishes and “everything happens for a reason” lately? From career confusion to romantic delusion, has your existential dread developed a personality—and a growing appetite too? Join the club where we religiously rely on tarot divination to find out if we are stuck in the wrong career while simultaneously panicking if our ex is “the one”.

Finding clarity in chaos

When the perfect structure of coping mechanisms and safe spaces falls apart, tarot cards come to the rescue. Tarot is spiritual and evokes a sense of stillness amidst the chaos of everyday life.

Lighting a candle, focusing on breathing, and then trusting the universe–sounds like a perfect ritual for overcoming a mental breakdown. “It entails regaining your power via introspection, intuition, and deliberate decisions. Tarot becomes a tool for routinely checking in with oneself, helping you become more balanced, grounded, and spiritually aware,” suggests Soneeya Asrani, an ISO-certified international Tarot card reader. Based in Mumbai, India, Asrani is also the Founder of Enchantt Like Capricorn, a Reiki practitioner and a spiritual guide.

“In a world full of noise, Tarot offers clarity. Feeling stuck? The Hanged Man may be asking you to adjust your perspective. Facing challenges? The Strength card reminds you of your inner power. Looking for direction? The Chariot says it's time to seize the reins and move forward,” explains Asrani. Tarot lets us turn anxiety into action, which makes us go running back to its warm embrace when things get tough.

Tarot Reading- from game to guide

The history of tarot cards is as layered as the curiosity we bring to each reading. It can be traced back to the 15th-century courts of Europe, where it was first used as a card game. Tarot’s roots also run through Romani traditions and older esoteric lineages. What was once a niche has now gone mainstream. What we know is—this isn’t a trend.

From dark-academia reading rooms to Pinterest mood boards, the deck has always held its mysterious charm. Tarot is a tool for intuition. It stems from the belief that a greater power is at work. Tarot gives you permission to pause and reflect while offering emotional aspects. It’s less about knowing the future and more about knowing yourself, and that is where the magic lives.

Why do we keep circling back to these mysterious cards with ancient illustrations and enchanting energy? Maybe because we want spoilers in real life. “Tarot is not about fortune-telling in the dramatic, cinematic sense. It's a soulful guidance system that combines your intuition with the wisdom of the universe. When life feels complicated, overwhelming, or emotionally weighty, tarot functions as a spiritual GPS, guiding you with greater clarity, confidence, and serenity,” says Asrani.

Digital transition of tarot

As AI enters the chat, tarot goes digital. There are AI-powered tarot apps and websites that can pull cards and deliver clarity within seconds. Is tarot more about convenience or the connection? Some people love it—instant answers, endless readings, no judgment. Others feel it takes the soul out of the practice. “ I meditate before a session to connect with the deck. I ask the universe to give the answers that the client is seeking, and with AI, that is not the case. It is not answering your questions intuitively. There is a certain practical aspect to AI”, shares Asrani.

In a fast-paced world, tarot gives us something rare—a reason to slow down and listen to ourselves. Whether it’s done through candlelight or a screen, the pull is the same: we want direction, comfort, and maybe a sign that we’re on the right track. Tarot won’t map out your entire life, but it might hold you accountable in an intimate way. If life feels a little uncertain right now, maybe it’s time to draw a card. Your story for the year might already be waiting.
